Most energy drinks come as a
liquid in a can. Why is Revvida packaged as a powder in a
packet? It has been shown that vitamins and other important
nutrients deteriorate in a liquid medium. After about 90 days,
these nutrients have lost most or all of their potency. The other
drinks are not affected by this, since they contain very little of
the nutrients that support energy at the cellular level.
Revvida, on the other hand, is loaded with these nutrients.
Packaging it as a dry powder you mix in water or juice means that you get
full potency.
How much caffeine is in
Revvida? Each serving of Revvida supplies 100 mg of straight
caffeine, plus another 25 mg of caffeine in guarana. There is a
slower and more prolonged release of caffeine from guarana. By way
of comparison, an 8 oz cup of brewed coffee has about 120 to 135 mg of
caffeine, while an 8 oz cup of drip coffee has 150 to 175 mg of
caffeine. A cup of brewed tea has 40 to 60 mg of caffeine, while
soft drinks have 35 to 55 mg per 12 oz serving.
How much sugar is in
Revvida? There are 12 gm of sugar in each serving of
Revvida. Most of the other energy drinks have 25 to 40 gm per
serving. Regular soft drinks have about 40 gm of sugar per 12 oz
serving. Sugar is included in Revvida because it helps get other
nutrients (particularly minerals and electrolytes) into cells more
efficiently. The relatively low amount of sugar in Revvida gives it
a somewhat tart flavor. If you prefer less tartness, try adding
additional sweetener of your choosing.
Isn’t caffeine bad for
you? Caffeine is the most widely consumed herbal compound in
the world. When taken regularly in large amounts by itself, caffeine
can definitely increase stress and strain on you body. In Revvida
there are other ingredients that counter these effects, notably the
adaptogen Rhodiola Rosea, which helps counter effects of stress.
That is why we say Revvida provides balanced energy support.
Can you become dependent on
Revvida, as sometimes happens with the caffeine in
coffee? At the amount that most people would consume (1
packet of Revvida per day), this would be very unlikely. Even
with 2 or 3 packets of Revvida, this would be unlikely. People who
become on caffeine from drinking coffee are typically consuming 6
or more cups per day. Plus, they are not getting the
nutrients contained in Revvida that tend to balance the negative effects
that can be associated with large amounts of caffeine.
Does Revvida contain any
ingredients that are restricted in competitive sports? Both
the NCAA and the IOC (International Olympic Committee) have limits on the
amount of caffeine allowed for competition, but these limits are quite
high. An average-sized person would have to consume 7 or 8 servings
of Revvida all at once to even approach these levels. None of the
other ingredients in Revvida are restricted by the governing bodies for
sports.
Why does my urine change color
when I drink Revvida? There is a “saturating” amount of B
vitamins in Revvida to ensure that full impact from them is
achieved. That means that any unused amounts of these water-soluble
vitamins spill over into the urine. One of the B vitamins in
particular, vitamin B2, causes a bright yellow (with slight greenish tint)
coloration of urine.
How much Revvida can I take in a
day? The majority of people find that 1 serving per day is
sufficient. The energy boost lasts at least 4 to 6 hours for most
people. Some like to take another serving early in the
afternoon. It is actually OK to have 2 servings at once – remember,
this delivers about the same caffeine as 2 cups of coffee. We don’t
recommend more than 3 servings in a day, and most people wouldn’t want or
need any more than this.
Can children take
Revvida? Revvida contains a lot of healthy nutrients that
are good for all people, young and old. The issue regarding children
would hinge on whether or not they should be getting caffeine.
Remember, many children are regularly consuming significant amounts of
caffeine in soft drinks. Younger children don’t really need extra
energy (just ask their parents!). Children in the 10 to 15 year age
group are often getting fairly seriously involved in sports, and Revvida
might help their performance. There should be no problem at all for
ages 15 and over, which are essentially young adults.
Who should not take
Revvida? Anyone with chronic health issues should consult
with their health professional before taking any nutritional supplement,
including Revvida. People with a history of arrhythmias and other
cardiovascular conditions should especially heed this advice. That
being said, anyone who can drink coffee should have no problem with
Revvida.
Does heat exposure affect
Revvida? Excess heat, as occurs inside sealed cars in
sunlight (particularly during summer), can be very bad for any nutritional
supplement. This can reduce potency of key ingredients. In the
case of Revvida, it can cause a clumping of the powder. This is not
due to moisture, as the packets are quite impervious to it. It is
due to a congealing effect on some of the ingredients, notably the
D-ribose. If this should happen to any of you packs, just break up
the clumps with you fingers. The impact of the Revvida should not be
diminished unless there has been prolonged exposure to excessive
heat. If you are in you car in hot weather, it is better to leave
Revvida (and other supplements) in the trunk, where temperatures don’t get
as high.
What can Revvida be mixed
with? Revvida is designed to be mixed with cold, pure
water. It is best to use about 8 ounces. You will need to stir
it some to get full dissolution of the powder. Alternatively, it can
be mixed with juices. Lemonade is particularly good. Some
people like to mix Revvida with Nectavida for a particularly energizing
and healthful drink. Use about 12 ounces of water or juice for
this. For the ultimate healthy boost, try “Rocket Fuel” – 1 packet
of Revvida, 1 packet of Nectavida, 1 scoop of AmeriShake, 4 ounces of
chilled pure water, 4 ounces of chilled rice milk and frozen fruits and/or
berries of your choice, all mixed in a blender. Get ready for some
amazing energy with this one!
Most energy drinks contain
taurine. Why isn’t this in Revvida? Taurine is a
non-essential amino acid, meaning that the body can produce it from other
sources. Some people feel it is more accurately termed a conditionally
essential amina acid, since body stores can be diminished with extreme
exertion. However, this is really extreme exertion, as in the
Hawaii Ironman Triathlon, which the vast majority of people don’t ever
come close to. There are some well-designed scientific studies that
have shown that energy drinks containing tuarine (and glucuronolactone)
provide energy effects only from the caffeine and sugar they
contain; the taurine (and glucuronolactone) do not actually
contribute to the energy effect. The bottom line is that taurine
doesn’t support cellular energy production or counter stress, which many
of the ingredients in Revvida do. Some claims are made that taurine
improves mental focus, but there are not good scientific studies
supporting this. There are good scientific studies supporting the
beneficial effects of lecithin on mental focus and short-term memory,
which is why this ingredient in included in
Revvida. |
